Being a fan of the legendary Negazione, it was natural, almost physiological, for me to gravitate towards a project created by the legendary Tax, ex-guitarist of the historic Turin band.

The first time I had the honor of listening to a song by Angeli was back in the distant '90s on the frequencies of Radio Popolare. Hard music that, on one hand, brought to mind the hardcore of the mother band, while on the other hand, it winked at the grunge/alternative sound so popular in those years.

Lyrics in Italian, full of rage, despair, and nihilism. The music is tough, a punk/hardcore with some metal influences but inevitably influenced by the post-adolescent fury of figures like Kurt Cobain. The songs that stayed in my heart are three: "Facce Sconosciute", "Niente Per Me", and "Non Contate su di Me".

Powerful and with not many frills. Incisive riffs, an angry rhythm section, and an abrasive voice.

Tracks like "Voglio Di Più", "Vivo" and "Il Mondo Nuovo" also prove to be captivating.

The downside is that, sometimes, the lyrics fall into the banal and the sound echoes too much the champions of Seattle. But if you are able to overlook these trivialities (at least, for me they are), you too will be able to love a sincere rock 'n' roll album sung in our language, without falling into cryptic lyrics like Giovanni Lindo Ferretti or Cristiano Godano.

"Voglio Di Più" is not a milestone of punk/alternative but, honestly, I consider it a listenable, fresh, and well-made album. Innovative music lovers will not appreciate Angeli. However, for those who grew up with Negazione... the listening is highly recommended.
