The Profile

Angel Dust is a German metal band from Dortmund, formed in 1984. They debuted with the speed/thrash album Into the Dark Past (1986), followed by To Dust You Will Decay (1988). In the late 1990s they returned with a more power/progressive edge on Border of Reality (1998), Bleed (1999), Enlighten the Darkness (2000), and Of Human Bondage (2001).

Formed in Dortmund, Germany in 1984. Early lineup on the debut featured Romme Keymer (vocals), Andreas Lohrum (guitar), Frank Banx (bass), and Dirk Assmuth (drums). Debut: Into the Dark Past (1986). Subsequent notable albums include To Dust You Will Decay (1988), Border of Reality (1998), Bleed (1999), Enlighten the Darkness (2000), Of Human Bondage (2001).

A 1986 debut steeped in lively, tumultuous speed metal with Venom and NWOBHM traces. Guitars surprise, drums anchor, vocals snarl and soar. Highlights include Atomic Roar, Victims of Madness, and Marching for Revenge. Recommended for fans of German-styled speed/thrash; original CD is pricey, bootlegs exist. A commendable debut.
