Andy Bell is an English musician best known for his work with Ride. He was also a member of Oasis (serving as bassist and contributing as a songwriter from 1999 until the band's breakup) and has been involved with Beady Eye and the side electronic project Glok. He has released solo albums including The View From Halfway Down (2020) and Flicker (2022).

Member of Ride; joined Oasis as bassist and songwriter from 1999 until the Mancunian breakup; solo albums include The View From Halfway Down (gathering tracks written over several years) and Flicker (eighteen tracks written across two decades). Ride's Nowhere is noted in reviews as a seminal shoegaze album.

Two DeBaser reviews (by GrantNicholas) applaud Andy Bell's solo albums for strong songwriting and an expanded sonic palette. Flicker collects material spanning two decades; The View From Halfway Down was praised as a beautiful solo debut. Both reviews position Bell as an underrated but accomplished songwriter.

For:Fans of shoegaze, Britpop, psych-pop and listeners interested in singer-songwriters expanding their palette.

Far too underrated until now, it’s time to place Andy Bell among the best songwriters of his generation, especially after two albums so beautiful and well crafted.

A great debut from Andy Bell; the only flaw is some overly lengthy parts (in the instrumentals), which, however, do not mar an overall picture of great class and absolute quality.
