How do you appear out of nowhere on the cover of New Musical Express?
Ask Andrew WK, this 22-year-old American born in California, raised in Michigan, and living in New York.
He says that he wants to make the most exciting music possible... on the cover, he appears with blood coming out of his nose and dripping down to his neck.
Who does he remind us of? Maybe Ozzy Osborne? Exactly.
Andrew WK takes the glam metal of the Kiss, takes Ozzy, takes punk and even the 80s for a delirious/eclectic approach.
The songs are intentionally simple. "Party Hard" seems played by the Sex Pistols and starts with a vocoder like the Beastie Boys "I Love NYC" consists of a chorus that repeats endlessly "I love New York City, oh yeah..." between heavy metal guitars and 80's keyboard chorus.
"She is Beautiful" instead repeats endlessly "she is beautiful, she is beautiful..." and if you're not careful, it may even nest in your brain.
Nothing new, we steer clear of it. That's how the entire debut album "I Get Wet" recorded for Island unfolds.
We don't like it (or do we?), but "she is beautiful she is beautiful she is beautiful..." get it out of my head...
Still, live, we can imagine it could be a lot of fun.

This album is so irrelevant artistically and so shamelessly derivative that upon listening to it, all you want to do is jump around the house and find something to noisily smash.
I Get Wet just wants to entertain, make you dance (?) and for once bring to the forefront a generation suspended between being a bit weird and a bit nerd.
