LA RECENSIONE

I would like to be brief and concise, as it should be.

The Andrew Jackson Jihad is a band, I didn’t know that, and I don’t know who this Andrew Jackson they reference is, nor do I know if Jihad is actually part of his name or if he intends to sacrifice his earthly life in the name of the Islamic cause. But honestly, I don't really care.

Sean Bonette and Ben Gallaty play guitar and double bass, and behind them, there is an entire little orchestra striving to carry on a continuous and almost unstoppable, frantic race that takes us from “Rejoice” to “People,” through eleven noisy, out of tune, disheartened, breathless, ironic little songs about the mess that life is and the infinite joy this mess can provoke in people (“Rejoice despite the fact this world will kill you”), all somewhere between oblique and tipsy folk and bedroom punk. Twenty-five minutes.

Living is the best way to die.

Andrew Jackson Jihad

Andrew Jackson Jihad (now AJJ) is an American folk-punk band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 2004 by Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty. Known for frantic acoustic strums, sharp-witted, often dark lyrics, and a blend of lo-fi folk and punk energy, the group later expanded its palette with fuller arrangements. They changed their name to AJJ in 2016.
