Last year, Anastatica debuted in the music market with their first, intense album titled "Recalling" (Kitten Nest). Ten instrumental tracks that contained echoes of New Wave and Ethereal Pop, but also psychedelia and exquisitely ambient atmospheres.
Less than a year later, the group led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Simone Bortolotto returns on all digital platforms and on vinyl with the EP "In a sleeping garden", once again for the independent label Kitten Nest. There are four tracks, once again instrumental, in this exquisite work in which varied influences emerge, but are skillfully balanced in a mix of ambient, gothic, post-rock, and ethereal pop suggestions that at times recall the most famous artists of 4AD, the historic record label of the eighties.
The album, perhaps a concept in its intentions (but the absence of lyrics leaves a doubt on this), comes to the listener like an inner journey: electric guitars laden with effects, sitar, electronic layers, bass almost reminiscent of Japan, transports them to an intimate and meditative dimension. "In a sleeping garden" is not, however, a new age music album: it might appeal to those who loved David Sylvian's experiments in his early solo works, but also to those who followed niche bands like Dead Can Dance or Cocteau Twins.
The album, in its digital version, is available on the band's Bandcamp page: https://anastatica1.bandcamp.com/album/in-a-sleeping-garden but also on all online stores.
