THE REVIEW

Ana Popovic - Still Making History (Eclecto Groove Records - 2007)

Ana Popovic is a Serbian guitarist and singer, born in Belgrade on May 13, 1976. In just a few years, she has become an icon of the European and international blues scene. This is her fifth album and marks an important milestone in her career.

It was her father and his enormous collection of records that introduced her to the world of blues. Ana dedicated herself to the electric guitar and founded her band, Hush, with whom she started to perform concerts and appear on television. In 1998, she released her first album "Hometown", which already showcased her enormous potential.

Other albums and an endless series of concerts, recognitions, and awards followed, culminating in her first live album "Ana! Live in Amsterdam" (2005), where everyone could appreciate the explosiveness of her concerts, an album that brought her further awards and accolades.

"Still Making History" marks, in my opinion, a new chapter in the Artist's career. The album was recorded in Los Angeles under the protective wing of Delta Groove Productions, produced by David Z and John Porter, with session musicians of world-class caliber.

The album reached third place on the Billboard Blues Chart and remained there for 19 weeks. It is the definitive recognition of Ana's greatness in the land of blues.

The sound of this album, very well recorded, arranged, and played, does not lose the characteristic traits that marked her debut but enriches itself with further nuances. Popovic's performances are extraordinary both in voice and guitar, showcasing great energy combined with intense feeling.

Her songs are yet another fresh and passionate reinterpretation of that mix of blues, jazz, rock, soul, which Ana's talent blends in an original and innovative way, often energetic, sometimes almost sensual and passionate.

It's not difficult to be captivated by the groove and strong impact of this Lady (that she is also a beautiful woman is a mere detail :-P) who alternates between furious electric sessions and more intimate moments. A record (in the meantime another one has been released, but that is another story!) that highlights an Artist in all her skill, ability, and style ... all we have to do is Listen!
