"Yeti", the monumental double LP by Amon Düül II, stands as an epoch-making masterpiece of European progressive music from the '70s, a hallucinated dance that takes the listener on a mystical journey in a dream. A psychedelic journey that awakens the most ancient spirits, a sonic experience that challenges rationality itself. This record can be compared to the visionary approach and the unique atmosphere of H.P. Lovecraft's writings.

"Soap Shop Rock" is an odyssey of almost 14 minutes that evokes wild and pagan Teutonic energy to the nth degree. The violin merging with male and female voices creates a theatrical drama, evoking the same atmospheres of mystery and antiquity present in Lovecraftian tales. The melody twists upon itself, creating a sound labyrinth that recalls the timeless dimensions and intertwined realities in the writer's stories.

With "She Came Through the Chimney", time slows down in a relaxed track, where percussion, guitar, and violin dance in a surreal harmony of three minutes. In "Archangels Thunderbird" the guitar weaves swirling riffs: pure Kraut rock! The commanding voice of the priestess Renate Knaup dominates, while percussion and drums guide the listener through a timeless classic. "Cerberus" is a cosmic folk with tambourines, bongos, and a hypnotic guitar. The return to oriental sounds in "The Return of Ruebezahl" offers a brief but intense sensory experience.

The journey thickens with "Eye-Shaking King", a psychedelic track in which a disconcerting voice mixes with extravagant sounds. The final piece, "Pale Gallery", brief and tumultuous, anticipates the improvisations of the second disc.

The beating heart of the second disc is the long improvised suite "Yeti", a cosmic epic that takes the mind on a dreamlike journey beyond time and space. The overwhelming sound explosions, the expanded sonorities, and the subsequent improvisation in "Yeti Talks to Yogi" evoke the chaos and the unknown of unexplored worlds. The final song, "Sandoz in the Rain", is a last delicate improvisation with flute, acoustic guitar, light drums, and violin. The track is an homage to the ecstasy induced by the use of drugs (Sandoz marketed LSD).

"Yeti" is a delirious album, a cathartic journey that still resonates in the minds of the Warned. A visionary work that tickles the boundaries of reality and opens gateways to unknown worlds, where sound becomes a living entity, pulsating behind the veil of the ordinary.

Yeti is the most played CD in the car radio of Charon’s boat; it’s truly primordial and mind-expanding music, disinhibiting.

A double LP as tall as the Himalayas, as vast as the Pacific Ocean, as immense as the Solar System.

'If Wagner had played rock music, the result would have been an album like "Yeti".'

"At the end of the listening, one remains shocked and overwhelmed by such beauty."
