English guitarist and singer, best known as frontman of Ten Years After and for the Woodstock performance of "I'm Going Home". Died 6 March 2013.

Famed for his fast guitar technique (often described as 'the fastest guitar in the West'), left-hand legato playing, use of a Gibson S-335, performance of "I'm Going Home" at Woodstock with Ten Years After, collaborations with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Ron Wood and George Harrison, and the 2004 album Alvin in Tennessee produced by Scotty Moore. Died 6 March 2013 following surgery.
