THE REVIEW

The mysterious Aluk Todolo are a French trio with black metal roots.

"Occult Rock" from 2012 is a long, exhausting instrumental journey through a dark, foul-smelling, narrow tunnel.

No light point was seen in the distance, no hope of an end and finally light.

The more you run forward, the more the distressing suspicion grows that there is no end. Light is now a vague hope. A distant memory. Even shadows are a hope.

Suspicion turns into certainty of a never-ending run in a desolate darkness. A tangible darkness that screams in our minds.

A long claustrophobic scream, morbid, that we have already heard in the more repetitive math rock of Don Caballero, Shellac, but repeated to the point of exhaustion, without a glimmer of humanity.

A long scream that we have heard in the agonizing dissonant guitar sounds of the Jesus Lizard, blades that tear the flesh.

Black oppressive, negative psychedelic noise, offspring of a sick black metal.

8 long tracks, always over 10 minutes, hammering progressions, almost unbearable, that implode into a dark noise that takes away any remaining hope.

A dangerous journey but with an undeniably sick charm.
