One of the most anticipated albums of 2019. I say most anticipated because the previous “The Last Hero” had divided
the opinion of the band's long-time fans and hadn't entirely convinced the critics. So will “Walk The Sky” live
up to expectations? The only way to find out is to listen to the album without any prejudice.
After the brief introduction, “One Life”, the album opens with “Wouldn’t You Rather”, the first single
from the new album, which seems to have been written expressly to be included in the concert setlist.
“In The Deep” is a classic Alter Bridge track, beginning with heavy guitars, a verse sung over a
bed of arpeggios, and a catchy, singable chorus.
The subsequent “Godspeed”, introduces a novelty to the band's sound, namely the inclusion of keyboards.
The track is an easy-listening ballad, with a chorus and a mix of sounds that evoke contrasting emotions;
we can call it positive but at times melancholic, difficult to explain.
It continues with another track in pure Alter Bridge style, “Take The Crown”, opening with guitar and voice,
only to explode into a hard’n’heavy piece, in pure Alter Bridge style.
A guitar riff that seems to have been written by Korn introduces the next track “Indoctrination”, a song
that nods to nu metal while maintaining the band's classic choruses.
Another semi-ballad of the album, “The Bitter End”, takes us on an auditory crescendo leading to the following
“Pay No Mind” and “Forever Falling”.
The first is the second single to precede the album's release, the second is the true surprise of the album. It
opens with a very rarefied guitar arpeggio, leading into a bone-crushing Heavy Metal riff and a
Mark Tremonti in stellar vocal form.
“Clear Horizon” offers nothing new to the listener's ear; “Walking On The Sky”, on the other hand, brings us
back to the times of “Black Bird”, with a Miles Kennedy showcasing his vocal talents and an epic chorus,
in one of the best tracks of the album.
We close the album with “Tear Us Apart”, a hard rock piece that would not be out of place on a Bon Jovi album, and
“Dying Light”, the last single released and perfect for the album's closure.
“Walk The Sky” certainly does not bring great innovations, but that does not mean it is an album to discard.
“Walk The Sky” is an affirmation, the affirmation of the sonic and compositional synergy of a group that is
making rock history in our days, an affirmation of quality (despite the production being
overdone at times), in short, an "Alter Bridge" album in every sense.

Alter Bridge has finished their artistic growth here. They have nothing more to say.
The production is simply abominable, an over-compressed sound that masks the instruments and makes listening difficult.
