Decidedly rainy evening with an added storm in Piacenza, Italy kicks the roosters’ butts and qualifies for the next round of the European Championship.

I'm here with a healthy dose of skepticism about this group, especially the fact that Mr. Kennedy can faithfully reproduce his vocal virtuosity live.

Well, Mr. Kennedy kicked my butt and more than satisfied my curiosity, delighting my ears with his incredible (I can't find a more appropriate adjective) voice for more than an hour and a half of concert.

The Fillmore is a pleasant venue, although not excessively spacious, and the acoustics are very good. The spectators are quite numerous, but you can breathe and carve out some space to move at the pace perfectly set by the bass and drums duo (Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips - a real jackhammer).

Mark Tremonti, who cleverly hid all his abilities in Creed to highlight Scott Stapp's figure, reveals himself to be a truly great guitarist; his solos and rhythm sections are impeccable, from the first to the last piece (also thanks to the help of Kennedy's perfect guitar).

Alter Bridge truly seem convinced of their abilities and are involved in the evening, also helped by an audience that shows them remarkable warmth and cheers on Myles and company with stadium-like shouts and chants.

In America, surely, they are used to different crowds, but Myles is quite surprised by the great involvement of those present, thanks them multiple times, plays with the audience, and holds the stage like a true rockstar.

The concert is primarily focused on pieces from the new album which emerge from the sound system with considerable power, but there is also space for some songs from the debut album, more specifically "Find the Real" (however stripped of the final high note, perhaps because it was played second, with the voice still "cold"), "Broken Wings," the energetic "Metalingus," and the previous single "Open Your Eyes" that practically makes the whole venue sing.

The new songs sound even better than the previous ones, especially "Rise Today," "Ties That Blind," the beautiful "Blackbird" faithfully reproduced in every passage, "Coming Home," "Before Tomorrow Comes," "Buried Alive," and "Brand New Start" where the singer, shirtless after two pieces, to the delight of the ladies present, flaunts a physique sculpted by Michelangelo in Carrara marble and showcases all his vocal abilities, even though he never seems to be at the limit.

The four delight us with the cover of Zeppelin's "Kashmir," performed to perfection in every aspect, enough to make the best Page and Plant envious.

When everything ends, I leave fully satisfied under a light rain, head towards the car, and seriously think I have attended one of the best concerts of my life.

They might return to Milan (possibly) around November, and I strongly recommend you to be there.
