Allegra Lusini is an unusual artist in the Italian music scene. A daughter of art (her father is a historical music author who has collaborated with stars like Gianni Morandi, Nada, and Carmen Consoli), she began her career at Sanremo Giovani and then competed in the New Proposals section of the Sanremo Festival as a performer of traditional and professional pop songs. Over time, however, she changed her style and language, focusing on musical genres that unfortunately have few followers in Italy: dream-pop, shoegaze, and electro synth alternate, supported by her voice that is sometimes ethereal, sometimes spirited. Crystallum is (for now) the essence of this maturation journey. The album works very well, it's a pleasure to listen to, and at certain moments, it even takes almost new wave departures in the arrangements. Some tracks stand out for their beauty, from the complex and dynamic As when I am to the warm and unexpected ballad Cold water and gun. An overall iconic album, meant to be listened to in its entirety.
