LA RECENSIONE

Hats off for this CD.

Alkonost is a semi-unknown band coming from the cold Russia. I am lucky to have this CD in my hands and review it, as I had to visit my grandparents in Moscow just to buy it; it's practically impossible to find here.

The genre is a pagan-folk black metal with a split of two voices, one male and a splendid female singer. Unfortunately, the CD is all spoken in the mother tongue (but that shouldn't be a problem, its strengths lie elsewhere); all the tracks extend over melodic yet sharp guitars, with a good use of keyboard and especially the female voice, which is stunning in my opinion. It could also appeal to Gothic enthusiasts, there's no doubt about it. This band truly deserves to break through in metal; unfortunately, they are not very well known in Italy and elsewhere, but in Russia, they are held in high regard.

Purchase this CD, you'll hear a new way of playing metal and you won't be able to detach from this brand-new work titled "Puty Neproidennyi".

Summary by Bot

Alkonost's album Puty Neproidennyi is an impressive work from a semi-unknown Russian band blending pagan-folk and black metal. The mix of male and stunning female vocals, sharp guitars, and keyboards creates a unique melodic and intense sound. Though sung in Russian, the album's musical strengths transcend language barriers. Rare outside Russia, this album deserves wider recognition.
