New album by the prolific and tireless Stefano Musso who, through his long-standing project Alio Die, continues to offer his music with great consistency and commitment despite trends. We are facing a sincere artist and, even though, like other ambient musicians, there is objectively an excess of productivity, nevertheless his inspiration has never waned. Spirals Of Light originated from acoustic recordings made with Marika Oliva in the winter of 2021. The sound material was arranged and enhanced with various instruments like whistles, khen, and shruti box. It was then completed with loops and string samples and mixed in 2022. In the presentation of the album, a landmark of Alio Die's discography like Under an Holy Ritual is mentioned. This is not a casual reference: during the listening, the desire to return, in a sort of space-time journey, to the metaphysical "source" from which it all began is evident. There is almost the impression that Stefano Musso felt the need to drink from the original source to recharge his energies. And, judging by the freshness of the music in Spirals Of Light, the goal has been achieved. The sound of the psaltery and the zither is of an unreal refinement and transports us to a deeper dimension of reality, a transcendent dimension achievable thanks to the therapeutic qualities of this music.
