"Clouds chase each other searching, the clouds
are old airships the clouds, clouds
how many lovers do the clouds speak to in the sky above us"
from "Nuvole"
It was supposed to be a live album "Elisir", it would have been the first and probably the only one in her career, also because Alice will break the contract with EMI due to their refusal to publish a very particular live work, "Art et Decoration". In the end, an album is produced where some tracks from the first part of her career are rearranged with slightly fuller sounds, typical of the second half of the '80s.
It is the album that follows right after the remarkable success (more European than Italian) of "Park Hotel" from 1986; "Nuvole" is recovered, which was left out of the previous work, a song that has the main features of the album it should have been part of, with Alice’s lyrics over an ethereal music that then changes, accelerating with sharp drum beats for the chorus, an elegant and magnetic track. The other unreleased track is a splendid cover of "The Fool On The Hill" by Paul McCartney, this version is close to the original but loses the recorder part, Alice favors the role of singing in a delicate cover. From "Capo Nord" the artist revisits "Rumba Rock" but changes its title to "Hispavox", the base remains the same but the synth solo disappears in favor of a more sober acoustic guitar part. There’s also a new version of "Il Vento Caldo Dell'Estate", less daring than the original and less electro-pop than the one in "Personal Juke-Box" from 2000, more rhythmic "Una Notte Speciale" and less melodramatic than the original "I Treni Di Tozeur".
"Elisir" in '87 adds nothing to Alice's career but represents the musician's first attempt to engage with her repertoire often changing its features; a live album might have enriched the discography more, and it's a shame that an artist who has such a remarkable charisma live still hasn't had the chance to record her concerts on an album.

07 Una notte speciale (04:40)
Una notte speciale (Alice)
Strane donne col ventre offeso
danzano sui tacchi a spillo.
Danzano questa notte
intorno a un fuoco immaginario.
Zingari coperti d'oro
zingari che sono senza tempo.
Noi senza dignita'
oltre la montagna scopriamo l'amore.
Qui qui senza falsita'
noi ci amiamo come la mente non sa.
Mantelli avvolti in corpi antichi
coprono le biciclette.
Corrono lentamente
su strade buie e lastricate.
Corrono incontro al niente
corrono incontro all'infinito.
Noi senza dignita'
oltre la montagna scopriamo l'amore.
Qui qui senza falsita'
noi ci amiamo come la mente non sa.
Noi senza dignita'
oltre la montagna scopriamo l'amore.
Qui qui senza falsita'
noi ci amiamo come la mente non sa.
