THE REVIEW

Let's start by saying that this review is difficult for me, as in my opinion Alice In Chains ceased to exist on April 5, 2002, so I write this review in a very detached manner.

After the necessary clarifications, let's talk about the album: needless to say that it sounds damn "Alice In Chains"

Perfect production, perfect sounds, gripping songs. Truly a beautiful record, but all this increases my amount of anger, because I imagine what a masterpiece it would have been with Staley on vocals, but one cannot come back from the realm of the dead, and we have to come to terms with it.

A very positive aspect of the album is that here they're not trying to replicate what has been done in the past. You can feel Jerry Cantrell's presence and composition, continuing his idea of music as he always has. I'm glad about this, but there's always that little devil in me that says "why the hell didn't you continue with another name?".

Anyway, the album is well-made and deserves more than one listen.

Summary by Bot

The review reflects a deeply personal and somewhat conflicted view, acknowledging the album as a strong Alice In Chains record with excellent production and songwriting by Jerry Cantrell. Despite missing the original vocal presence of Layne Staley, the album deserves recognition for its quality and originality. The reviewer notes the challenge of accepting the band’s evolution without Staley and questions the decision to keep the Alice In Chains name. Overall, it’s a positive evaluation encouraging repeated listening.

The album is something sublime. A wonderful record, more than Black Gives.

With Layne here, we would be talking about a masterpiece, but unfortunately, no one will ever give us his immense voice back.
