Year 2005.
Alice Cooper is here, he is alive and giving rock 'n' roll lessons to the new generations.
Vincent Furnier (real name of Uncle Alice) seems to have found a second youth in recent years that is taking him straight back to the early '70s.
After the convincing "The Eyes of Alice Cooper," released just a year ago, the good Alice does even better, and delivers an old-school CD where Stones-influenced rock peeks into several tracks, such as "Perfect" and "You Make Me Wanna," heavy rock and garage punk shine in "Woman Of Mass Distraction," "Dirty Diamonds," and "Steal That Car," and even country with a Johnny Cash twist in "The Saga Of Jessy Jane."
What else to say about the splendid '60s cover of The Left Banke, "Pretty Ballerina."
As a bonus track, he includes "Stand," a rap-metal piece made in collaboration with Xzibit, nothing more than a joke but done very well!!!
What can I say, if the old lions are still capable of producing records like this, let's forget about the White Stripes and company for a while and dive back into the horror-rock of this sometimes incredibly underrated character.
For me, one of the best three albums of the year!!!
Alice has returned to the sound that marked his period of greatest success.
Dirty Diamonds is an album that brings Mr. Cooper back to his origins, born of an immortal style yet with a sound that has now had its day.
