THE REVIEW

I still remember the video for "Green".

The action took place in a classroom (an Australian high school?). Everyone was there: the school beauty, the nerd with the protruding ears, the frigid sensitive girl. A guy who looks like Ron Jeremy (a repeater? the janitor?) and the teacher who, with that character actor's face, must have certainly played the role of the gruff but generous boss in some American film. It's unclear whether to cry or laugh.

But then Lloyd, guitar slung over his shoulder, starts playing in the middle of the room.

Because I absolutely do not want to talk about this album (the usual trite singer-songwriter folk pop from a major label, with three nice songs, the others not present, you can easily imagine it on your own). And ultimately, not even about this song, "Green".

Because here we talk about religion: about a secular religion that obeys only the rules of spontaneity. The ability to be moved, even when the intentions are not the best. The fact that, damn, once again we were screwed.

We could talk for hours about whether God exists or not: what I know is that the question is stupid because I believe in man. In his weaknesses, in his contradictions, in his ability to create worlds, religions, superstitions.

Because if a mediocre artist like Lloyd can conceive a miracle like "Green", then there is still hope.

Who knows if old Alex ever realized, he got so close to heaven.
