Along with the swallows, spring has also brought some novels to read in this first half of 2019. The ones highlighted today are Lena and the Storm, soon to be published, and I Love You Like in the Movies, released in February.

Lena and the Storm, by Alessia Gazzola

Arriving in May 2019, a new novel from the successful author of the series The Pupil, an extraordinary success in bookstores and on TV, a book about the magic of new beginnings and the desire to live going beyond one's barriers. A novel with a protagonist who has to come to terms with herself, her past, and a heavy secret. A novel that smells of the sea, the delicacy of sand between fingers, the strength of waves in a storm.

It is said that each of us, throughout our lives, accumulates on average thirteen secrets. Of these, five are truly unspeakable. Lena has only one, but it feels inside as if it were worth a thousand. And as much as she tries to forget it, it is inevitable for her to think about it while from the ferry she glimpses the island of Levura, the destination of her journey. Levura, rugged and wild, where she spent the unforgettable summers of her youth.

I Love You Like in the Movies, by Mimmo Parisi

For the Bolognese writer Mimmo Parisi, the literary season has already begun in February 2019, leading to the publication of the thrilling novel titled I Love You Like in the Movies (LIBeRO style, 227 pages), distributed by Feltrinelli, Mondadori. The story revolves around two brothers, Mirko and Fede, and a girl. Both are in love with her. Morgana chooses the latter. Far from being simply relegated to the time of adolescence, this very first love is also the last for Mirko.

At a certain point, Mirko decides to definitively give up on that difficult love. He becomes a missionary in South Sudan. With the arrival of the global economic crisis in 2007, Fede, also in the grip of a financial and psychological meltdown, leaves as a lay volunteer for the same destination as his brother. Unfortunately, in Africa, the formidable Ebola virus will force Mirko to a dramatic choice.
