In the ideal condominium of contemporary electronic composers, Alessandro Cortini would occupy the penthouse with a sea view. An open space designed to measure a gradient wave from white to black and vice versa. A personal space resulting from years of music in the service of others. From Nine Inch Nails (in which he is still a member) to Ladytron, with detours as Blindoldfreak and SONOIO. For some years now, Alessandro has been enjoying creating immersive cathartic flows.
Avanti is the third room. Entering it means sinking into that bittersweet feeling that is nostalgia. It means moving the restless gaze of the present towards a sense of joy that comes from the past. It means longing to relive those emotions to be able to accept change and minimize the fear of the future.

Looking back to move forward. Start/Finish, Win/Lose, Wait/DoNothing.

The playful phrases of Alessandro's family that introduce each track prepare for the flow of synth harmonies layered above and paired with a bass line that one wishes would be infinite. Perhaps because it evokes emotional memories in all of us. Because they saturate the room with poignant sweetness, thanks to a gentle sound emerging from a single analog instrument. Listen after listen, Avanti can become an effective antidote to not seeking what cannot return. A sonic tòpos to rely on in the darkest moments. And underneath it all, an invitation to frequent that condominium dedicated to Don Buchla and curiously inhabited by people from Bologna.
