LA RECENSIONE

The first thing that catches the eye about the album is the title: "sustanza di cose sperata", which corresponds to the verse from the twenty-fourth canto of Paradiso, in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. This album is born from the collaboration between the pioneer of avant-garde electronic music Hans Joachim Roedelius, and, if I may say, the magnificent Roman pianist Alessandra Celletti, whose other albums I had the chance to listen to before.

Thus, two musical genres seemingly irreconcilable are fused, and I would say the result is surprising.

As I browse through the 15 tracks, I discover that each of them is named after a color, and so I begin my listening journey, letting myself be carried away by notes full of strong emotional charge.

The delicacy of the piano sound and the mystery of electronic sounds take me inside an imaginary kaleidoscope where each color echoes a different sensation that reflects in a delicate and enveloping manner.

The surprise comes in the sixth track, not just music but the text of a poem recited by Roedelius, which seems to catapult me into a magical and distant world. The journey continues, reaching the eighth track; the sound of sea waves opens and accompanies this time Celletti's voice, with the recitation of a poem in Corsican, transporting me to a timeless place, where nature reigns supreme.

The journey ends with the famous track "The River" by Brian Eno, written by Roedelius.

The magic of the piano and the mystery of each sound make this album unique in its genre, free from any attempt to categorize it precisely. The sensation is one of a search for essentiality, found and gifted through original nuances and intense colors.
