Released by Hic Sunt Leones – the cult label of Stefano Musso dedicated to ambient and ethnic music, electronics, and everything difficult to categorize – an album by Alberto Ezzu and his Lux Vocal And Instrumental Ensemble.
Alberto Ezzu is perhaps better known as the musical soul of No Strange, a historic and mythical Italian psychedelia formation whose new album has just been released. He has also written music for theater and documentaries. He is a highly respected musician and music therapist – he also founded a music therapy center in Turin named after the renowned Argentine psychiatrist Berenzon, a true authority in the field – and his research focuses on the healing and curative powers of music. The music heard in this Il fuoco del 6° armonico sulla Luce della Dominante partendo dalla Madre Fondamentale – with Zarathustra in mind, is minimalist, meditative, exploratory, and avant-garde. It brings to mind the iterative and mystical compositions of seminal and fundamental minimalism musicians such as La Monte Young and Terry Riley.
The album contains a long composition for electronic sounds and four overtone voices. In Italy, overtone singing or harmonic singing has been used, with great artistic results, by Roberto Laneri and, abroad, by renowned names such as David Hykes, Michael Vetter, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Immersing oneself in the sound flow generated by the voices and synthesizers allows one to reach a state of transcendental meditation that transports to another space-time dimension.
A recommended album for mystical travelers and those who are not afraid to confront themselves with unique and unconventional music.
