A year passes from the self-titled 1980 album, and Alberto Camerini makes a splash, producing his most commercially successful album (alongside "Rockmantico," which boasts the 62nd spot in the top 100 Italian albums of all time) and his endless hit. The album is called "Rudy e Rita" and the song is called "Rock 'n roll robot," which opens the work. This is conceived as a Long Playing indeed, with two sides, the male one, Rudy's side, and indeed Alberto is characterized by yellow on the cover, while the other side is Rita's, with Camerini surrounded by a pink heart. Fourteen tracks, seven per side, for a balanced project. The record label is CBS, where Camerini has already been for a year, and the producer is Roberto Colombo, his high school companion and friend. I won't do a track by track but I'll just say that, although the famous song is the first, the real treasures are hidden in the album, and they are called "Jonnhy," yet another reference to Harlequin (Zanni Arlequin), for me the best, also for the final solo; "Miele," released as a b-side with its very sweet melody; "Pennarello e Melaverde," with Alberto reviving the personification already used in "Limone e Cannella" the previous year; "Il ristorante di Ricciolina," among the most successful of his career and fairly famous at the time of the album's release. The rest consists of rock experiments ("Bip Bip Rock" and "Rock Rap") and delicate but slightly less accomplished tracks, forming a linear continuum in the 43 minutes of the collection, which closes with a Venetian boat song from the '700s, "Quando è Carnevale." Rating 4 stars. Alberto will know how to replicate the previous year with the album "Tanz Bambolina" and "Maccheroni elettronici." It is the peak of success and visibility. It will last (unfortunately) another four years.
