Alan Jay Pakula (April 7, 1928 – November 19, 1998) was an American film director, producer and screenwriter, noted for paranoid political thrillers and character-driven dramas such as Klute, The Parallax View and All the President's Men.

Born in New York City; career spanned from the 1960s until his death in 1998. Frequently associated with 1970s American political-paranoia films and New Hollywood filmmakers.
