Alain Bashung was a French singer and songwriter, a defining figure of French rock and chanson. Rising to major fame in the early 1980s, he later released acclaimed albums such as Osez Joséphine, Fantaisie militaire, L'Imprudence, and Bleu pétrole. He died in 2009 of lung cancer.
