THE REVIEW

I admit it, I have a soft spot for Rock 'n' Roll made in Australia. From AC/DC to Rose Tattoo, from Richard Clapton to Wolfmother, and certainly, Airbourne, led by the excellent Joel O'Keeffe, could not be missed.

Having recently seen them live in Genoa, I can only say that the energy and explosive charge of these guys is unstoppable! After the brilliant debut in 2007 "Runnin' Wild," on March 12, 2010 they released "No Guts. No Glory." In "No Guts. No Glory," we can hear some hair-metal riffs and even catchy choruses; indeed, the sound is much softer compared to the previous one. In the standard version, the album consists of 13 tracks, while in the deluxe version, they reach 18! Really a lot for a Hard & Heavy album, which in the long run can also become tiring.

In my opinion, the best tracks are almost all the first ones: Born To Kill, No Way But the Hard Way (the first single released), Blonde Bad and Beautiful, Raise the Flag, Bottom of the Well, and the last one Back To The Bottle; with 'No Way But the Hard Way' and 'Bottom of the Well' a cut above the rest. The remaining tracks are interchangeable with each other and will, of course, be more appreciated live.

Summing up, we have another album stamped with Airbourne. However, compared to the previous one, there's no contest, "Runnin' Wild" is the best. All in all, Airbourne are not bad at all; maybe in a few years, they'll manage to develop a more personal and less AC/DC-like style. It's a well-crafted album and will certainly be appreciated by most Hard Rockers. As for the lack of originality in this group, I can say that they are just starting out, they are young, they need time. I wonder how much more Rock can renew itself, so it's better to bring back the old glories and polish them up nicely.

No Guts. No Glory. It's only ROCK 'N' ROLL!

They do nothing new, but they play it well. Very well.

No Guts, No Glory is a solid album, simple and reliable that won’t leave me stranded in the middle of the road.
