Another important piece is added to the lively mosaic of the Savona music scene: the Airben. A band inspired by quite 70s sounds, combining excellent technical skills from all members with a touch of ingenious humor present in the lyrics. Well, this interesting combination of characteristics has succeeded in releasing their first demo, Airben Magique.
The mini CD consists of only four songs, but the quality makes up for the brevity.
The first song, Cucudè, flows gently, through jazz incests, solos that have an epic feel, and a rather Spanish-tinged finale, all while narrating the flow of life between pansotti and six strings… And so, with this initial calling card, we move on to Jean Paul Derriere, recorded live, which with its good engaging rhythm, leads us to Nebria (which is nothing more than Airben spelled backward), where the singer's vocal talents are further displayed. It is here that the prog influences in the instrumental arrangements are most felt, which, instead of bestowing an aura of tedious technical pomp, provide excellent melodic solutions.
Finally, we come to the most experimental and hallucinatory track, Psicolabile, featuring electronic drums, almost alien voices, distorted, hallucinatory, as well as oneiric and a bit evil, unsettling.
Well, a stellar start, more than satisfying songs that leave no doubt about the group's good potential. Good potential also confirmed by the songs that were subsequently produced, but which have not yet been released.
Oh, one criticism, the cover of the demo is really horrible!!
