Just 2 words would suffice to describe this concert: ORGASMIC, but at this point, the review wouldn't exactly be a poem, right?

A damn cold wind and a bothersome drizzle seriously threatened to cancel the concert, but after a hasty stage lowering... they started, there they are on stage, Manuel with his usual look in a linen shirt and a glass of wine in hand greeted the roughly 1500 attendees with "è LA FINE LA PIù IMPORTANTE"... yeah yeah, right in Italian, because our guys decided to remove all the English from 'Ballads For Little Hyenas' and include the mother tongue songs from Ballate!!!.. Result.. perfect!

The English songs weren't too bad live (as I witnessed in Conversano), but this way it was a whole different story... After "è LA FINE LA PIù IMPORTANTE" came "BALLATA PER LA MIA PICCOLA IENA," "LA SOTTILE LINEA BIANCA," "LA VEDOVA BIANCA," "CARNE FRESCA," "IL SANGUE DI GIUDA", occasionally interspersed with a bit of PAURA DEL BUIO (1.9.9.6., COME VORREI, SUI GIOVANI D'OGGI CI SCATARRO SU, MALE DI MIELE, VOGLIO UNA PELLE SPLENDIDA). The melancholic QUELLO CHE NON C'è was thoroughly visited by Manuel and company, with the title-track, BYE BYE BOMBAY, NON SONO IMMAGINARIO, VARANASI BABY; The songs from NON è PER SEMPRE literally sent me into ecstasy... I've always struggled with this album since I got to know Afterhours, but OCEANO DI GOMMA, alone was worth the 10 bucks spent on the ticket, also MILANO CIRCONVALLAZIONE ESTERNA stunning in its madness...

In conclusion, this concert was the best I've ever seen, I know it sounds like a cliché, but for me, it NEVER is when it comes to Afterhours, maybe because I still have to know maaaany maaaany bands, but so far I think they are the only ones I know from my musical repertoire who, after about 20 years of honorable career, NEVER FELL INTO THE BORING, THE REPETITIVE, they never sold out to the god of money like many musicians and even while experimenting, they always achieved the masterpieces that we all (or almost all) know! After the concert I return home still hyped but satisfied...
