Can a piece of work comprising four tracks and lasting just over twenty minutes totally captivate the listener?

This time we’re not talking about death metal or pounding, obsessive sound, but an EP, the second, from a Lombard band, AEternal Seprium, who play classic metal with heavy incursions into epic and concessions to thrash. They come specifically from Seprio, an area in the province of Varese to which the group feels very connected, even from their name.

Four very varied tracks, however maintaining a very personal style that has no emulators in today’s metal. When the tempo slows, the shadow of Manowar isn’t felt too much, and fortunately, they don’t resort to the clichés into which even the good "Blood On Ice" by Bathory fell, especially the imitation of the drums from "Battle Hymns." The guitar also tries to be innovative for the genre played: textbook is the wah-wah solo of the opener, which begins with choirs worthy of the best Virgin Steele, then proceeds spiritedly with a vocal performance nearing perfection, touching Kiske-like shores in the choruses, but also peaks of harshness in the style of Halford of "Painkiller." Another heavyweight track is "The Oak And The Cross," featuring special guest appearances like growl, violin, and harp by Furor Gallico. It is the most varied track of the record, with a heart-stopping bass break in the middle of the song telling us not to underestimate this instrument, while the slowed part is monopolized by the guests, who paint landscapes of other times. Less changeable, but more aggressive and equally engaging are "In The Sign Of Brenno" and the concluding and patriotic "Under The Flag Of Seprium", especially the latter, which brings out the band's Maiden-esque background in the verses - for example, in the guitar interplays.

Quite recent is the news of a contract signing with Nadir Music (them again!), who by the end of the year will produce the band’s debut album, which, based on the premises of this EP, is an announced masterpiece.
