THE REVIEW

"And the day became night"

The night is beautiful: darkness, solitude (unless your MOTHER is there to keep me company), doubts, paranoias, and thoughts you can't give in to... GHOSTS (PT. 2), as Ghemon teaches us.

When you feel very very happy and the world seems green and brown, you make good music; when you're pissed off, depressed, and a little fucked, you make GREAT music! You have more things to say (like a lot, a lot) and the pathos is sky-high, whereas when you're happy, nope, it doesn't work because either you're in love or you're high as a kite. The reasons are always the same, and in the end, they even go to waste; on the other hand, if you're pissed off and depressed, you can complain about everything.

Thankfully, he had (and still has) things to complain about! Oh, you don't believe it? Well then, check this out:

"american nightmare lost in the monitor and i'll hold the door open so you can stagger through then send berserker bread cookies in after you"

You didn't understand a thing, did you? It's normal, relax: what Aesop Rock says turns out to be really complex and it's incredibly difficult to translate one of his phrases, much harder than translating a Luca Giurato sentence (no no, no blasphemy). But once you've translated and understood the concept, you'll think to yourself "Damn, but this guy is such an absolute freaking genius".

Then of course, if you have something intelligent to say, it's better that you do it on a stratospheric beat: so what does good old Aes do? He calls his friend Blockhead, who throws down something absurd (a violent bass with a sprinkle of synth accompanied by a fat drum, followed by an apocalyptic chorus marked by brutal guitar solos). And you're wasting time with the latest beat from that little fish clown... but can you explain what the point of your life is? Damn it, can't you be like all teenagers and just kill yourself?

At night, only the losers sleep. At night you have to fight your demons, or at least have sex. For now, I choose the first option (do I choose?). Sure, I could see things from a different perspective, but why bother? It's better to be kidnapped by the magical and absurd flow of the homegrown MC instead...

"life's not a bitch, life is a BEEEEOOOTCH who keeps the villagers circling the marketplace out searching for the g-spot! Maybe she didn't feel y'all shared any similar interests or maybe you're just an asshole and maybe I'M JUST AN ASSHOLE"

Dedicated to all the optimists, to all those who love life despite being losers, useless, pimply, fat, ignorant, unfriendly, with small dicks or tiny tits who have no reason to love life, but they do it anyway, because they feel cool.
