"Nine Lives" is a beautiful CD, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste. Why? Well, because it seems simply contrived. With this album, Aerosmith is making their debut under the wing of mother Sony, but it's not a debut that makes a splash.
Nothing spectacular, in fact, to boost sales, the record label decided, at a later stage, to add the standout track from the Armageddon soundtrack to the remaster: "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". Apart from this track, truly beautiful albeit a bit simplistic, the CD never reaches the heights of the CD "Aerosmith" with the gorgeous "Dream On".
Nothing to say, "Hole In My Soul" is beautiful, but nothing more. And the same goes for "Falling In Love" and "Full Circle", nice, but not over-the-top. The only somewhat unconventional song is "Pink", endowed with a good rhythm, the most significant song on the CD. Ultimately, "Nine Lives" is a nice and simple album... nothing more.
"With the first track starts a series of angry meows... Tyler screaming more than ever, a truly hard-hitting title track!"
"Damn this album really has nine lives!"
