It's true: this record is a mere commercial product, crafted with plenty of money and professionals. But there's one track I'd like you to focus on, the first single, "Hai bucato la mia vita." It strikes me because, in contrast to its lucrative purpose, it is a genuine piece of art. Here, we are judging not only the singer (not his ethical-political delusions) but also the musician (Bella) and the lyricist (Mogol). I find in them the desire to create a song whose beauty is an end in itself... and I like to indulge in this illusion.
The piano introduction seems like a separate episode, detached from the verse (even in a different key). We'll see later that this isn't the case. The verse itself begins with suspended chords leading to the main major, creating a relaxed atmosphere that is immediately contradicted by the lyrics: "You'll meet someone/who you'll love more/I will love no one/you have closed my heart." The drama of the words reconciles with the chords in the brief bridge and the chorus, where the fact is stated: "You pierced my life/when you went away" amidst a climax of strings and choirs. In the second verse, preceded by cello notes, the surrender is declared "It seems almost impossible/that it happened to us/an inseparable couple/nothing is certain now"; the rest of the verse is hummed "Na na na.." I find; the lightness of this humming and the piano arpeggio in such a tragic moment to be poignant and having the flavor of things irretrievably lost.
After the second chorus follows a middle "Nothing is ever certain/impossible, never/but maybe we might/then.../don't answer me now" that still leaves a feeling of resignation and bitter disenchantment. After a third instrumental chorus, the track closes with the reprise of the initial intro. This time it's clear the intention to create a "Russian dolls" effect, where the actual piece is not reality but a narration, a page of a book that is melancholically closed.
A true song, a separate worldan inspiration happily flowed into words and music... that's how I like to think of it. The rest of the album isn't so fortunate.

"Celentano’s truly excellent interpretation, even when he quotes himself with a bit of the self-assurance that has always distinguished him."
"Adriano really manages to pluck the heartstrings with an applause-worthy performance in a song simply stunning."
