The Athenians Adieksodo (original name Αδιεξοδο) [..ok Dead End for friends], were among the most relevant bands in the Greek punkrock scene of the late eighties.
Aggressive and heavy hardcore, with a nihilistic and misanthropic songwriting, is what they present to us in .38, an LP released in 1986 by the independent Enigma Records. Tracks with cadenced tones (such as "38 Xiliosta", and the instrumental "Jam"), alternate with fast outbursts (heavily balanced in "Byzantino"), and pleasant mid-tempo (predominant times on the platter), where the extremely aggressive voice of the singer Sotiris Theoharis (who sings in his native language), and the hard riffs of the guitarist Dimitris Spyropoulos take center stage: a concrete example is represented by the excellent "Diproswpa Systhmata", and "Eksakrivwsh Stoixeiwn", bolstered by a phenomenal drumming (by Stathis Papandreou), which manages to consistently maintain high standards (a superb job particularly on the commanding "Oikogenia". Special attention for the outstanding "Ypokoultoura, (which impresses with its beautiful choirs), and "Ta Kelia Ths Odou Mesogeiwn", a track where Sotiris delivers a decidedly above-average vocal performance.
The very mediocre recording does not overly affect this good work of just 37 minutes, which can still be widely appreciated and will undoubtedly satisfy those who love aggressive sounds, a characteristic that, despite the not very high tempos, is certainly not missing from Adieksodo!
