LA RECENSIONE

This title "Sing Along With" by the Swedish band Acid House Kings was not chosen by chance. Powerfully light and singable pop. Suitable for walks through lush fields on clear and sunny days, but also a great remedy for gloomy days and the smoggy, urban traffic. A CD full of pastel colors and sounds that are perhaps too polished and crystal-clear, yet possessing a soul. For the more distracted, it might seem like just a pop album of less than 40 minutes.

Without shame, they release their third full-length work on Labrador. The sounds are mostly acoustic: this gives their album an aura of being outside trends, while still being notable for its decidedly sixties ambiance. An album without lapses in taste or fillers. If we must find a flaw, it's in its musical monothematicity, making it difficult to describe each individual track. But maybe this is largely due to the new listening methods and times... "Do What You Wanna Do" sounds like a track written by Abba and sneakily stolen by Belle and Sebastian. The beautiful melodies of "Will You Love Me In The Morning" and "A Long Term Plan" are definitely catchy and can easily melt even the most resistant stone hearts. "This Heart Is A Stone" seems like a "Grease" track set in a sixties folk version. "Tonight Is Forever" is instead their juicy and human disco dance episode: it brings to mind the Bee Gees who, on their way to Damascus, met the Delgados and understood.

If you love the acoustic atmospheres and pop melodies of Feist, Kings of Convenience, Belle and Sebastian, and you want to spend about forty minutes at peace with the world, this is the album for you. Ah... If you buy it, there’s a DVD with the karaoke version of the tracks. It's free. I am not paid by their press office. I swear. It might seem... I understand you.
