I am about to review a German band that had its boom worldwide especially in the '80s, whose fundamental elements that characterized them were the sharp riffs and the unmistakable voice of the tiny Udo; I hope you've understood who I'm referring to... the inimitable Accept!
And the album I would like to review is dated 1982 and is titled "Restless and Wild." Listening to this album reminds me of a combination of: one-third AC/DC, one-third Judas Priest, and one-third pure Teutonic metal. The songs are all of great impact thanks to Udo's voice, which is reminiscent of Bon Scott; as for the songs taken individually, the best in my opinion is the pseudo-thrash "Fast as a Shark." When Accept decides to lighten the tone, they manage to give life to great tracks like "Restless and Wild" and "Princess of the Dawn"; other unforgettable tracks are the outbursts of "Neon Knight" and the perfect meeting of American heavy metal and German power thanks to "Flash Rockin' Man."
In my humble opinion, a great CD, to be listened to together with "Balls to the Wall," another masterpiece by this group released just a year later.
The opening of “Fast As A Shark” is disorienting: about 20 seconds of what must be a German folk song... The bucolic scene is interrupted by a ferocious scream and an unprecedented, supersonic riff.
Anyone who loves metal and doesn’t know Accept should self-punish in some way and get this album from one of the bands that helped forge the name of this genre.
