THE REVIEW

1970 South Africa, "Silver Trees" is the second and final LP for this Psych/Prog/RagaRock band that had already released another interesting LP "Totum" earlier the same year.

Sufficient for going down in history among enthusiasts of the genre.

South Africa, a territory that, besides Abstract Truth, had the merit of giving birth to other raw diamonds like Suck, Freedom Children, Robert Calvert (Co-founder along with Dave Brock of Hawkwind, those of "Silver Machine" and "Urban Guerrilla" for those who need a little help, and later as a solo artist in 1974 with that brilliant masterpiece which is with the album "Captain Lockheed & The Starfighteers" that alone would deserve a separate chapter), Demon Fuzz, Hawk.

We were talking about the early '70s, still in the albeit declining golden era regarding the Flower Power epic and the psychedelic genre in particular, stuff that those who truly lived those years and say they remember actually means they didn't live them at all, if you get what I mean.

The sound is a skillful mix of percussion, flute, sax, guitar, keyboards, and the intriguing voice of the frontman and vocalist, Kenny Henson, who knows how to come in when it's the right moment.

A few notes for lovers of the concrete or vinyl enthusiasts, if you will: the label of the first pressing is Parlophone (Finding it is as rare as a hen with tits) while the most accessible reissue remains that of the indispensable Shadocks Music.
