THE REVIEW

Italy: the land of bel canto, of the most exquisite Classical Music, of Theater, of good food, of the most beautiful women, and finally, of the most unknown Heavy Metal bands that are literally kicking the "ass" of half the world.

You might think of Fleshgod Apocalypse in terms of Symphonic Death Metal, The Secret for Crust/Blackened Hardcore, and many others that I might mention another time, but Abiogenesis especially comes to my mind.

One of the most interesting and absolutely incredible musical proposals that Northern Italy has produced in recent years, champions of a Deathcore/Progressive style with a thousand different influences that blend so well as to make them absolutely undefinable and unclassifiable.

"Visualize," their only and most recent single, released with a spectacular music video in June 2016, is one of those songs that made us wait a long time, but confirmed everything that monstrous hype could only imagine: a mix of the best Nevermore regarding the riffing, a hint of Sadist in the beautiful clean guitars and especially in the chorus harmonies, an unheard-of brutality in the passages that recall the best Deathcore/Death Metal in circulation, and solo passages that are seductive, epic, melodic, and dreamy like they haven't been heard in years in the genre (The Faceless pop up here and there in my opinion, and it's absolutely a compliment), an incredible rhythm section, with passages worthy of the best existing Prog Metal, and double bass fills so powerful and fast as to have almost no equals in the genre, and beyond.

Rhythm guitars and bass always on point, leaving space for a voice that is nothing short of inhuman from one of the best singers on the face of the earth, with scream and growl that are powerful, deep, "lived" and absolutely unconventional, not the usual copy of Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, and their ilk.

Crystal clear and powerful production, but not "fake" as in most cases concerning the Death/Deathcore genre, with nods to Devin Townsend for the Synth and Keyboard inserts, lead guitar, rhythm section, and voice are undisputed protagonists in a mix so well done that it is almost an insult to anyone who has tried to replicate a similar sound in subsequent years.

No need to mention the lyrics, raw and with philosophical plots, that fit perfectly with what is probably the best Heavy proposal to have come out of the peninsula in recent years and that competes with all the best heavy (and thoughtful) productions overseas.

The wait for new material remains feverish.
