The curious entity that goes by the name of Aarni is nothing more than the creation of the dazzled mind of a certain Finnish Markus Marjomaa, a musician who nurtures a passion for mystery and the arcane, magic, esotericism, folklore, psychology, philosophy, and, most importantly, Doom. These are the same ingredients that then blend into his bizarre musical compositions.

So what is "Bathos"? "Bathos" is like those amusing mushrooms on the cover: funny and very colorful but also poisonous and, naturally, hallucinogenic. "Bathos" is folklorism, avant-garde, exploration, abstraction, discovery, it is the subtle ancestral fear of the unknown. "Bathos" is polyglot, speaks English and Latin, communicates through a cryptic, unconventional language, through images, subliminal means. "Bathos" is confusion, it is the exploration of a forest without references and without memory, pleasant to traverse, but from which one does not emerge alive.
"Bathos" is Doom, certainly, otherwise, the leading (and lopsided) riff of "Squaring The Circle" and the many others that follow cannot be explained. "Bathos" is imaginative, dynamic, hypnotic, unbalanced, psychedelic, it is beyond the event horizon. "Bathos" is epic, atypical, but also grotesque and moving, it is a shapeless puzzle whose pieces fit perfectly, an astonishing mental labyrinth closed in on itself. "Bathos" is a continuous flow of dreamlike sounds, altered mental states, it is as fun as a dangerous (and wobbly) carousel, it is beyond the normal perception of reality. Dream. Deconstruction. Spiral. Loop. Unknown. Bathos. Aarni. Bathos...
