Melodic hardcore is a genre that apparently continues to be popular, or at least it seems so given the recent grand return of historical bands, almost all from the house of Fat Wreck Chords. Obviously, besides the well-known faces, there is a standalone underground scene, where we also find the Verona-based A Part Of Us, fresh authors of this “Different Stories On The Same Road” recently released by This Is Core. Preceded by the video from the single “Fake (Social) Stars,” the album offers exactly what one expects from a production of this kind: stop'n'go, frenetic rhythms, immediate choruses, and some hints of (pop) punk-rock that are customary in situations like this. Everything seems normal, one would say, and the answer is yes, A Part Of Us accomplish the not so obvious task of not disappointing expectations, delivering a result that is certainly not thrilling but definitely worthy. The main theme addressed in the lyrics is interesting, based on today's society now founded on technology and being “Social” 24 hours a day. However, the main question remains: how to evolve by proposing a decidedly “limited” artistic genre like melodic hardcore? The answer is up to the band. For the moment, this is fine!
