In my opinion, this is a truly great album, a hidden gem that I was lucky enough to find in the vast ocean that is the world indie culture. It's not a shiny pearl, but a dark one, which doesn't reflect sunlight, but rather absorbs it without sending back any color. The cover already tells us this...

If we want to classify it, what 90 Day Men do is post-rock, and it's no coincidence they've moved to Chicago a few years ago to follow the scene more closely (and above all, to get noticed by some record label).
The album starts immediately, and it starts off dark, the drums make a dull noise, just like the guitar that sounds like a bass.
A desperate and piercing voice enters, which might remind you of a drunk Vedder, and after a while, you realize they're playing out of sync.
But... and while following this strange rhythm, another voice sneaks in, warm and fascinating, which you'll later discover to be the real singer's. And then, while you think something is still missing, here come notes and notes of the piano.

"I drink to remember /Why all this blood is on my teeth /I drink to forget /What am I about to do".
This is #1, "I've Got Designs On You", and there's no choice: you either love it or hate it, just like the entire album, which certainly cannot leave anyone indifferent. The songs are to be explored from start to finish, and you need to give them time to unfold in all their splendor.

Six tracks that never end as they started. From despair, you move to redemption. Listening to them, you might get the impression of witnessing a metamorphosis. First the caterpillar, then the butterfly struggles to come out. If you close your eyes, you can see it flying, twirling around. The piano notes are the beats of its wings. And we wish these notes would always flutter around in our heads.

A brilliant work, conceived by madmen (listen to believe), and unforgettable for those who will get lost in it.
