S.O.S. ITALIAN MUSIC IS SICK (AND SERIOUSLY)

1999: "Grazie Mille". With the title Pezzali thanks the unfortunate ones who shelled out a fortune to buy the record. Instead of a thank you, these wretched souls deserve an apology, I would have directly titled the album: "Terribly Sorry" because it musically offers nothing good. "Grazie Mille" is the title track that opens the album: 'When you see the mountains and there is no mist when the holidays start and when I then return to my home... Grazie Mille' The poet Pezzali sings in an anthem to a life as mundane as a shopping list. The level doesn't improve in the following tracks, in fact...

Particularly noteworthy is "Dopo Il Solito Bip" a senseless song, which if taken humorously can make you smile (but if you've spent money on it, at most a bitter laugh). If the album was already at a level hitting rock bottom, with this ballad our Max has decided to arm himself with a shovel and pickaxe and dig a couple more meters deeper. From this: 'I wonder if you will answer and why you never do it must seem to you that I call you by chance not that I'm tormenting myself searching for you'

This man hates subjunctives. But also creative ideas. What most shocks about the whole work are the lyrics, truly terrifying, with an innocence and lack of content that would seem childish even for an elementary school essay. They indeed seem mosaic-like, gathering the typical phrases written on holiday pages of 'smemoranda' by middle school girls. 'I've already made enough mistakes if at least then this experience of mine could help me at least to ask myself and reflect wait a second...' From "At Least Once".

The 883 after a handful of decent and listenable albums (strictly suitable for a teenage audience) like "Hanno Ucciso L'Uomo Ragno" and "Nord Sud Ovest Est"... Having exhausted the shred of creative idea that animated their work, instead of stopping they persisted in releasing flat and blatantly commercial albums, with the understandable aim of continuing to fill their wallets: the audience indeed never lacks. But not like in the early '90s, darn it some are starting to understand. I hear many people, many Italian artists, and critics complain and almost criticize the young people who, not recognizing themselves in Italian music, fall in love with Anglophone music, almost discarding a priori the one where they hear an Italian verse. Darn it if what our compatriot artists propose to us is this then young people, you are doing not just well, but exceptionally well. Not all Italian artists are on this level, but unfortunately, I notice that the standard is worryingly settling on these extremely low levels.

Pezzali's voice is, as usual, quite pleasant, but from here to carrying an entire album of ten tracks is quite a feat. This is not music, it is musical business founded on a complete lack of inspiration and creative talent.

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   Grazie mille (04:03)

Grazie Mille

Quando si giocano
le coppe in tele il mercoled
quando sento un pezzo splendido
che mai pensavo bello cos
quando il cane mi vuol salutare
quando vedo i miei sorridere
quando ho l_entusiasmo di fare
sento che sento che

Per ogni giorno, ogni istante, ogni attimo
che sto vivendo
Grazie Mille

Quando un microfono
non lo vorrei abbandonare mai
quando i miei amici prendono
un_accoppiata secca alla SNAI
quando il mondo mi sembra migliore
anche solo per un attimo
quando so che ce la posso fare
sento che sento che

Per ogni giorno, ogni istante, ogni attimo
che sto vivendo
Grazie Mille

Per ogni istante, ogni giorno, ogni attimo
che mi stato dato
Grazie Mille
Grazie Mille
Grazie Mille
Grazie Mille
