The album covers of 883 have always been particularly original, with their comic and colorful graphics... Here they change: on the front part of the booklet, the gigantic logo of the band cuts through a collage of newspaper titles concerning the musical group, witnessing, along with the evocative title ("Gli anni"), the time that has passed since their debut.
Let's now get to the essence of the review, which is the analysis of the tracks on the cd. It features a rather limited number of tracks (after all, 17 is not that many, considering there are greatest hits made up of at least 2 cds), but the selected tracks are truly well chosen: from the melodic "Io ci sarò", to "Nord Sud Ovest Est", to the lively "Rotta per casa di Dio", "Tieni il tempo", "La regola dell'amico". There are also the timeless "Hanno ucciso l'uomo ragno" and "Sei un mito": true generational anthems and a trait-d'union between the 80s and 90s, unforgettable soundtracks of evenings spent in company. Noteworthy is the presence of more melodic tracks, like the poignant "Come mai" and the marvelous "Una canzone d'amore" and "Gli anni". This last piece encapsulates in its notes the entire atmosphere of the album, somewhat melancholic yet cheerful at the same time.
In closing, I also highlight the presence of a live track, "Leggero", a successful cover of the namesake hit by Ligabue in which it is no longer the raspy voice of the Emilian rocker taking the lead, but rather the slightly softer (yet equally beautiful) voice of Max. In conclusion, "Gli anni" is a clear example of greatest hits worthy of the name: concise, well-crafted (the inclusion of lyrics in the booklet is also appreciated) and capable of delivering great and unsuspected emotions from the first listen.
You must not be ashamed of your past, you wore out the 883 albums!
The best part was waiting for the swear word when it came, 'damn,' we'd cut it and felt important, cool in the true sense of the word.
