7 Seconds are an American hardcore punk band from Reno, Nevada, formed in 1979 by vocalist Kevin Seconds and bassist Steve Youth. They’re known for upbeat, positive hardcore and melodic hooks, with landmark records including The Crew (1984) and Walk Together, Rock Together (1985).

The Crew (1984) features fast, concise songs with lyrics rejecting drugs, alcohol, racism, and conformity. Walk Together, Rock Together (1985) balances power and melody and includes the anthem “We’re Gonna Fight” and a cover of “99 Red Balloons.” The band explored more melodic directions in the late 1980s and returned to rootsier hardcore in the mid-1990s.
