The good Fifty continues to put a lot on the table in preparation for the release of his fourth official album, "Before I Self Destruct". After all, things don't seem quite easy for his status as a rapper. Among critics accusing him of being where he is solely thanks to his friendship with Eminem and Dr. Dre, fans who keep repeating that the only real Fifty is the one from GRODT, with BISD's release set for September 11, the same day when the evergreen Jay-Z will also release his Blueprint, and with a large competition of rap releases in 2009, including the standout Relapse 1 and 2 by Eminem and the return of two pillars, Rakim and Dr. Dre, Fifty really has to prove that BISD will be worth buying.
This task is entrusted to the two mixtapes, "Forever King" and "War Angel LP". The first is more dedicated to old school fans, the second to those who want some commercial hooks and hard-hitting beats in rap.
In short, after listening to "War Angel LP", the expectations for BISD are more than high. The first of the two 2009 mixtapes by Mr. Jackson is truly excellent, with fairly original rhymes and very hardcore lyrics, excellent productions (among which "Okay, Alright" by Dre stands out) and really well-crafted hooks made to capture the audience. All this with the sensation that this great return to Fifty's origins is due to Eminem, whose influences are heavily felt in Fifty's flow and voice changes.
The highest points of the LP are reached with "Ok, Alright", "Get The Message" and "London Girl".
The impression is that Fifty will continue to shower with ever larger denomination dollar bills and that his wealth will continue in the years to come, with the awareness that he earned it, in the end.
For those who hate Fifty, this mixtape won't change their minds.
For those who are nostalgic for GRODT, this mixtape is okay.
For those who love him, keep on loving him, because Fifty loves everyone unconditionally...
