Talking about an EP with few tracks is never easy, especially when you're confronted with a young band that has yet to find its stylistic niche. 4 Season are the classic group made up of teenagers who grew up with Blink 182 and the California sound, characteristics they have tried to somehow incorporate into their DNA, succeeding only partially. “Sit Of Shame” is indeed what we might call a halfway work, still raw in many aspects and quite standard in interpretation.

That the trio knows the type of music they propose is certainly a fact given their ability to interpret typical rhythms and sounds well, but what seems lacking – and it is certainly an important factor to reflect on – is personality. In terms of pop-punk, everything has been said and this is clear, but from literally interpreting what bands like All Time Low and Ataris do to being a band with its own style, well, that's quite a long way to go. It is certainly no coincidence that the track that attracts the most attention among the five contained in “Sit Of Shame” is the slowest one, namely “Sick Love”, the only example where the band has really put their own spin on things.

Because let's be honest: playing at light speed and moving through those two or three guitar riffs that sound so alternative is something everyone (or almost everyone) can do, the challenge in these musical genres is to give an identity to the product, something that 4 Season at the moment have not succeeded in doing. Since this is a brief starting point awaiting the debut album, all we can do is advise the boys to carefully study what they have done so far and, above all, not to be afraid to dare. The more you dare, the more you show your guts, especially in easy-listening genres like pop-punk.
