Alluring, spatial, elliptical, overloaded and necessary in their own way, the 35007 once again challenge the sensitivity of those who wish to confront them with a sidereal journey that demands nothing more from navigators than participation and abandonment.
Active since the mid-'90s, the Dutch band 35007 (Loose) continues a stylistic search impossible to compare to other experiences, in a very personal blend of hyperspace psychedelic suggestions and more distinctly heavy flavors. But in this "Phase V", they seem to have softened their tones, abandoning the sharper edges of their previous records and liquefying their tracks into long instrumental psychedelic rock excursions where the rhythm section imposes itself as the propellant, setting the coordinates and pulses as dictated, beats lifted and taken off by the guitars. A new research arrangement that makes the sound of 35007 much more abstract and soft, detached from the hard verbosity of earlier works and, if possible, even more refined and embellished with small luminous melodic variations. The evocative power of 6 tracks interconnected and titled with simple indications of numerical pairs ("20 09", "44 05") like slices of ageless music, stages of a single suspended journey: a sonic fresco of the highest compositional refinement. There are really not many albums like this around.
Synths, multi-effects in delay, Hammond organs, liquid quasar keyboard carpets, and saturated electric guitars flying together, leaving dark purple trails in the stellar space: a retro-futuristic robotics composed of soundscapes where the sound exchanges slice through time and impose continuous vibrations, perpetual movements of sounds in the air.
A fascinating album because it is conceived as an experiment of neuro-perceptive and sensory expansion, a "mathematics of the audible" that touches music and the stimulation of the imaginary that music implies, binding them in synergy.
An acoustic resonance piece of the cosmos, it is here.
