It took me a while. And many listens, before convincing myself to write something about this record, the debut EP of 2 A.M. And I like it, I like it a lot. Because it was able to court me with delicacy until it won me over. Unexpectedly. At first listen, it didn't convince me. But you know, often great albums need to be metabolized with due calm.
It is certainly not a "great album," but a remarkable work, without a doubt. A little gem. Serious, well-packaged, impeccable production, which for the official debut of two very young artists, already sounds quite solid and incisive. An excellent calling card, which hints at a musical sensitivity of no small measure. I will not label it in any genre, sub-genre, or trend, because, in my opinion, every album should be listened to and assimilated as a standalone work and not as part of something else, risking falling into useless comparisons, especially useless nowadays.
It is a romantic album, which flows pleasantly on "spacey" and dreamy atmospheres - alternative enough not to risk resembling a certain type of adolescent music - wisely resorting to the use of electronics, but in small doses, to add a more sensual and captivating touch. And then, it might be that I am less and less "angry" and more and more "in love" that I am particularly inclined to be lulled by such innocently romantic melodies. In this era where we all increasingly need Emotions. My sincerest compliments to Andrea Maraschi and Andrea Marcellini, who are not only very Italian, but hail from my sunny region, Le Marche to be exact, which can only be a source of pride.
A couple of criticisms: the more melodic pieces, which individually are very beautiful and never tire upon listening, could end up being thematically monotonous. And I said "Could". And the album cover, which they should have given more importance to. I hope this is just the beginning of a brilliant career, which will not find an easy path in Italy, but it doesn't matter, with a bit of courage, 2 A.M. have all the elements in place to present themselves with head held high outside the "beautiful country".

Each of these songs hides a real story behind it, so that with the right sensitivity and passion, one is able to touch each of them with hand and heart.
Their heartfelt and rooted lyrics enrich the clean and linear sounds, creating a perfect combination of melody and words.
