In the music world, there are several overrated artists... some less so like Iron Maiden, and some more so like Oasis or... Zucchero.

If Fornaciari once had something to say in his songs... now he can't or rather... he doesn't want to anymore.

''Chocabeck'' is probably his worst solo album and to beat ''Fly'' would already take effort.

The album opens with ''Un Soffio Caldo'', a piece with lyrics written by Francesco Guccini (a highly respected man but after what he wrote here, he lost a lot of respect from me).

The work continues with ''Soldati Della Mia Città'' and ''Il Suono Della Domenica'', two songs that really say nothing to me.

''È Un Peccato Morir'' is probably the best track on the whole album (nothing exceptional, but it has a catchy rhythm and is ''slightly'' distant from Zucchero's usual sounds).

The title track ''Chocabeck'' is the usual sugar ballad that says little to nothing about the album, just like the summer hit ''Vedo Nero'' where the now sixty-year-old singer continues to talk about chicks and occasionally drugs (as if there wasn't enough crap in this country already).

The rest of the work is quite flat like the tracks just described or useless; by now the Zucchero who sang ''Menta O Rosmarino'' is no more, and we have to come to terms with it.

Bye everyone.

I think this album is Zucchero’s most mature because the melodies are excellent and the lyrics are little poems.

This album is a small masterpiece by a great artist.

‘Chocabeck’ is an old, sad, vaguely deathly and farewell album, very foggy and autumnal. Beautiful.

Zucchero today is all in that series of very dramatic and beautiful ‘goodbyes’ that he shoots in the best track on the album: 'Il suono della domenica'.

Chocabeck is the most intimate album from the good old Sugar, now calm and more reflective than ever.

After various listens, you understand how genuine the work is, whether you appreciate it or not.
