The title means "Holy Nothing" in Japanese. It was quite a beautiful production, especially the surprising acoustic Junkie that opened, where Palazzo's voice resembles that of Toto Cutugno (listen to believe). He also had an acoustic album ready, which was supposed to be called Good Morning Italia. Who knows if it will resurface on the Internet...
I like this definition "Mediterranean vice," it seems to perfectly fit the imagery of the palace... as for the music, I see little of the Jesus Lizard in it, but especially Sonic Youth and a lot of grunge (including Alice in Chains, for example in "Junkie"). An album definitely worth reevaluating. Great review.
Wow, what an awful cover! Yes, it's the translation in Japanese, but it doesn't make much sense in Japanese. It might be "a person who doesn't become a saint" literally, but as a translation it could work.
polkstreet is not bisius but a fake of Donjunio that he uses together with sadeyedpocahontas to give positive ratings to his reviews and negative ones to those of others. Take a look at his reviews and you'll realize he's a fraud.
The review is very accurate, although it exaggerates a bit for me. Palazzo was great; most of the musical ideas of Massimo Volume were his (and he got thanked with a kick in the butt), but his solo albums weren't exactly masterpieces. There are excellent insights here and there, but never a single perfect album like "Catartica," or as varied as "Hai Paura del buio?", to mention your references. I agree that the best moments are those where silence and noise explosions alternate, like "divora" and "angelo nero." However, there are some truly mediocre episodes; for example, "junkie" sounds like a b-side from "sap" by Alice in Chains, with a pulp lyric that just makes you laugh, while "Pornostar" seems like a leftover from Nirvana's warehouse... Nonetheless, we have to acknowledge Palazzo's consistency: in a glossy, ambiguous world like the "alternative rock" of the ’90s, in the end, the most alternative of all was him.
No dear, I'm not a fake but a user in flesh (perhaps too much, alas) and bones.... it’s true that I'm always generous with the don, but I always give high ratings to marialena too: is she perhaps a fake as well? And I don’t think I’ve ever given low ratings to other reviews, except for that of zucchero...
It's true... perhaps the masterpieces on par with "il vile," "catartica," or "hai paura del buio?" have never been produced by the good Palazzo, but it must be said that his albums have never been less than good and that the latest one, il fiore dell'agave, is truly excellent, although not a masterpiece.
